Bookkeeping Packages & Pricing for Small Business

Simple, Transparent Bookkeeping Rates and Packages

No mystery quotes or runaround. BKInk builds clear, straightforward monthly bookkeeping packages for Ontario small businesses, priced around what you actually need — a fixed monthly rate rather than an hourly meter. Below you’ll find example packages, our bookkeeping rates for one-time projects, and answers to the question every owner asks first: how much does a bookkeeper cost?

The packages and ranges on this page are illustrative examples to help you plan, not binding quotes. Your exact price depends on your business, and we will confirm it after a quick, free consultation. Prices shown do not include HST.

Why Pricing Varies

Every business keeps its books a little differently, so a single flat price rarely fits anyone well. Instead of forcing your business into a one-size box, we tailor your package to the work involved. A few factors shape where your price lands:

  • Transaction volume — the number of transactions across your bank and credit card accounts each month. More activity means more to categorize and reconcile.
  • Complexity — multiple accounts, mixed revenue streams, foreign currency, classes or job costing, and similar factors add to the work.
  • Payroll requirements — whether you need payroll, and for how many employees, including source deductions and year-end T4s.
  • HST filing requirements — whether you are HST-registered, your filing frequency, and how involved your input tax credit tracking is.
  • Catch-up work — whether your books are current or need months (or years) brought up to date before ongoing service begins.

Because we price around these real factors, you only pay for the work your business actually needs, nothing padded, nothing hidden.

Not sure which fits? Most businesses don’t fit neatly into one box, which is exactly why we build your package around your actual needs. Schedule a consultation and we’ll recommend the right fit.

What’s Included

Depending on your package, your monthly bookkeeping service can include:

  • Monthly bookkeeping — categorizing every transaction and reconciling your bank and credit card accounts so your books stay accurate and current. (See our Bookkeeping Services.)
  • Financial reporting — clear monthly reports, including profit and loss and balance sheet, so you always know where your business stands.
  • QuickBooks Online — your file kept clean, current, and accessible from anywhere, maintained by a specialist. (See our Support for QuickBooks Online.)
  • HST tracking and filing — HST tracked all year, input tax credits captured, and returns filed accurately and on time. (See our HST Filing Services.)
  • Payroll — accurate pay runs, CRA source deductions, on-time remittances, and year-end T4s. (See our Payroll Services.)
  • Responsive support — a dedicated bookkeeper who answers your questions, included with every package.

We’ll confirm exactly what’s included in your package during your consultation, so there are no surprises.

Catch-Up Bookkeeping Pricing

If your books are behind, you’re not alone, and it’s one of the most common reasons businesses come to us. Catch-up bookkeeping is priced separately from your ongoing monthly service, because it’s a one-time effort to bring your records current before regular bookkeeping begins.

Catch-up pricing is typically based on the number of months (or years) that need to be brought up to date and the transaction volume and complexity involved. As a planning guide, catch-up work often starts around $200–$400 per month of backlog, scaling with volume and complexity. Once you are caught up, you move onto a regular monthly package and stay current going forward.

We’ll review your backlog during your free consultation and give you a clear, specific quote before any work starts.

Cleanup for QuickBooks Online Pricing

If your QuickBooks Online file is a mess, miscategorized transactions, broken or duplicated bank feeds, unreconciled accounts, or incorrect HST setup, a cleanup for QuickBooks Online gets it back to an accurate, reliable state. Like catch-up work, cleanup for QuickBooks Online is usually a one-time project priced separately from ongoing service.

Cleanup pricing depends on the state of your file, the period it covers, and how much needs to be corrected and reconciled. As a planning guide, focused cleanup projects often start around $100–$300, with larger or more tangled files scaling from there. After cleanup, we can maintain your file through ongoing bookkeeping and Support for QuickBooks Online so it never drifts again.

We’ll assess your file during your consultation and confirm a fixed scope and price before beginning.

Tax Preparation Pricing

We bring the same transparency to tax that we bring to bookkeeping. Tax preparation is priced per return, by complexity — and because we keep your books, your return is built on accurate records from the start.

  • Corporate Tax (T2) — priced per return and quoted by complexity (single-activity and clean vs. multiple revenue streams, HST, inventory, or a year-end that needs work first), starting from $480 per return. Typically quoted with your year-end — the Year-End + T2 combination starts from $660. (See Corporate Tax (T2).)
  • Corporate Year-End — a fixed-scope project, starting from $280, confirmed after a quick file review — the same structure as catch-up and cleanup. (See Corporate Year-End Support.)
  • Personal & Self-Employed (T1) — priced per return by tier — starting from $120 for a simple employed return and from $150 for a self-employed/sole-proprietor (T2125) return, up to more complex returns with HST or rental/investment income. (See Personal & Self-Employed Tax (T1).)

As with bookkeeping, these are illustrative — your exact price is confirmed after a quick, free consultation. BKInk prepares returns as a CRA-authorized EFILE provider, within a tax-preparer’s role; we are not a CPA or public accounting firm and do not provide audit, review, assurance, or regulated tax-planning advice.

New clients: 50% off your first T1 or T2 tax preparation engagement — offer ends November 20, 2026.

Bookkeeping + Tax Bundles

For most incorporated clients, the best value is a bundle that combines the recurring base with year-end and tax — so the two-pillar relationship is the default, not an upsell. Bundles are presented as combined annual value and confirmed at your consultation (no fixed bundle price is published, consistent with our custom-quote approach):

  • Bookkeeping + Year-End + T2 (flagship) — clean books all year, your corporate year-end, and your T2 filing as one annual engagement. The recommended path for incorporated businesses.
  • Bookkeeping + Year-End — the bridge bundle for corporations approaching their first year-end.
  • T1 + Self-Employed Bookkeeping — for sole proprietors who want their books kept clean and their personal return prepared together.
  • Bookkeeping + Payroll + HST — the compliance bundle for employers and HST-registered businesses (all components you already see above, wrapped together).
  • Cleanup + First Months of Bookkeeping — get a messy file fixed, then kept clean.

Every bundle stays within our qualification: no assurance, audit, or CPA-only work. Schedule a consultation and we’ll recommend the right bundle and confirm its combined value.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these prices guaranteed quotes?

No. The packages and ranges on this page are illustrative examples to help you plan and compare. Your exact price depends on your transaction volume, complexity, and which services you need. We confirm your custom quote after a quick, free consultation, with no obligation.

Why don’t you just list one flat price?

Because businesses genuinely differ. A sole proprietor with 30 transactions a month and no payroll has very different needs than a growing firm with HST, payroll, and hundreds of transactions. Pricing around your actual needs means you don’t overpay for work you don’t require.

What if I need payroll or HST filing added later?

That’s easy. We can add payroll, HST filing, or other services as your business grows, and adjust your package accordingly. Many clients start with monthly bookkeeping and add Payroll Services and HST Filing Services over time.

How does catch-up or cleanup pricing work with my monthly package?

Catch-up bookkeeping and cleanup for QuickBooks Online are one-time projects priced separately, because they bring your books to a current, accurate starting point. Once that’s done, you move onto a regular monthly package. We’ll quote both clearly and separately so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Is there a contract or long-term commitment?

No — service is month-to-month with no minimum term, and there are no setup fees. We focus on earning your business each month with accurate work and responsive service. We’ll walk you through any terms during your consultation so everything is clear up front, no fine print.

How much does a bookkeeper cost in Ontario?

It depends mostly on how the work is priced and how much of it there is. With a monthly package, BKInk’s packages start from $119 per month for a fixed-scope solo package and typically run $150–$295 (Starter), $395–$445 (Growing) and $575–$595 (Established) per month for full-service work; larger or more complex businesses are quoted custom. One-time projects are quoted separately: catch-up bookkeeping from about $200–$400 per month of backlog, and cleanup for QuickBooks Online from about $100–$300 for a focused project. Many bookkeepers still charge by the hour; a fixed monthly rate is easier to budget and rewards efficient work. Our guide How Much Does a Bookkeeper Cost in Ontario? walks through what drives the price.

Are bookkeeping rates hourly or monthly?

BKInk quotes a fixed monthly rate for ongoing bookkeeping and a fixed project price for catch-up, cleanup, year-end and tax returns. You are not billed by the hour, so a question or a busy month doesn’t change the invoice. The rate is set from your transaction volume, complexity and the services included, and reviewed with you if the business changes.
